Problems with fault alarms on Siemens PLC S7 300

Help~ I have a Siemens S7 300 PLC. I set up an analog alarm for a pH meter; the pH meter’s range is 0-14, and I set the upper and lower limits to 4-10. However, when these limits are exceeded, no fault alarm is triggered. Do you know why? I would appreciate some advice from an expert
