Regarding the determination of major hazard sources, I’m curious about how concentrated sulfuric acid is classified. I’ve seen some people determine whether it constitutes a major hazard source by calculating the amount of sulfur trioxide produced when concentrated sulfuric acid decomposes; is this method valid? Is it feasible? I hope fellow experts can help answer this question!
I only know that the fire hazard of fuming sulfuric acid is Class B, while that of sulfuric acid itself is Class E.

Since the original poster is dealing with the identification of major hazard sources, it is necessary to become familiar with and master GB 18218. In GB 18218-2000 \"Identification of Major Hazard Sources\", the answers to the poster’s questions cannot be found; however, the introduction of GB 18218-2009 completely resolves these issues. The title of the new standard has been changed to GB 18218-2009 \"Identification of Major Hazard Sources Related to Hazardous Chemicals\", while the standard number remains unchanged. Table 1 \"Names of Hazardous Chemicals and Their Critical Quantities\" in the new regulations specifies that the critical quantity for sulfuric acid fumes, listed under item number 55 (category: oxidizing substances), is 100 tons; therefore, if the substance in question is concentrated sulfuric acid, it can also be classified as sulfuric acid fumes. In the unit identified by the original poster, as long as the amount of sulfuric acid is 100 tons or more, it constitutes a major hazard source.
