A diaphragm pressure gauge is a type of pressure gauge that uses a diaphragm to separate the medium being measured from the sensitive elements. When the pressure P of the medium acts on the diaphragm, it causes the diaphragm to deform, thereby compressing the sealing fluid in the pressure gauge’s measuring system and creating a pressure of P-△P. When the stiffness of the diaphragm is low enough, △P is also small, and the pressure generated by the pressure measuring system of the pressure gauge is close to the pressure of the medium being measured.

Three-screw pumps also have requirements regarding the inlet pressure of the pump, especially due to the influence of vacuum levels; therefore, a pressure gauge is installed at the pump’s inlet to measure that inlet pressure. The outlet pressure is generally measured at the outlet of the pump, downstream of the check valve.
Under normal circumstances, pressure gauges should be installed at both the inlet and outlet of the pump. However, the import pressure should not be too high; based on our experience, it generally should not exceed 0.2 MPa. The method to prevent short-circuiting and blockage of pressure gauges is, as mentioned above, to install an isolation tank filled with silicone oil. The method to prevent freezing is to wrap an electric heating tape around the isolation tank.
