May I ask: What is the market demand for tetrachloroethylene and trichloroethylene? Our factory mainly produces caustic soda and PVC. Is it necessary to develop downstream products related to these two materials?
Trichloroethylene is primarily used in the industrial cleaning agents and refrigerant markets. Its use in industrial cleaning agents has declined due to its toxicity upon decomposition; however, in the refrigerant market, it is in high demand in recent years as a substitute for fluorinated refrigerants, for environmental reasons. Currently, the production capacity in the trichloroethylene market is also severely overcapacity. It seems to be a common problem in the domestic chemical industry; if one wants to get involved, careful consideration is needed.
The trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene projects are excellent options for chlor-alkali companies; the lifespan of tetrachloroethylene alone is at least 30 years.
