Personal opinion: The main reason why the compensation for registered safety engineers in China cannot be increased is the extremely low amounts paid as compensation for work-related deaths. Of course, this is also a reality in China due to its large population. Currently, in China, the compensation amount for deaths at work is 200,000 yuan, which is roughly 10 times the annual salary of ordinary workers. In some developed countries, however, this compensation amount can reach 30–40 times, or even more, the worker’s annual salary. To make companies truly recognize the importance of safe production, it is necessary to inform their investors of the amount of cost increase incurred by workplace deaths or injuries. Pointing out that **imposing mandatory rules is not the fundamental solution. The above are just my personal opinions. I work in the field of safety, but I haven’t yet obtained the safety certification; I plan to take the exam next year. I would appreciate some advice from those who have already passed the exam.
I feel the same way. I took exams this year, but I think it’s still the level of attention given by bosses that matters. In China, attention is usually paid only after something happens; once it’s over, people forget about it. The reason why employees and managers in companies don’t have a stronger sense of safety is still due to the lack of attention from bosses. Safety officers do have the intention to ensure safety, but they lack the means, as preventive measures require financial support from the bosses. There’s a phrase I’m not sure whether to say or not: A company can keep going without anyone, but it can’t function without its owner’s money.
