A check valve generally refers to a control valve that directs the flow from the pump’s outlet back to the inlet pipeline or to the storage tank in front of the pump. It is used to ensure that the pump maintains a minimum outlet flow rate and to adjust the operating load of the pump (applicable only to centrifugal pumps). An anti-surge valve, on the other hand, directs the flow from each stage of the compressor back to the inlet, or it can be used for venting purposes. Its main purpose is to ensure that the compressor can operate at a normal inlet flow rate.
Anti-stall means counter-rotation; the rest is easy to understand, right?
Centrifugal compressors can experience flying issues, and to prevent this, a backflow line is usually installed in front of the outlet isolation valve. For media that can be discharged directly, the backflow line is simply a vent pipe. Generally, a check valve is installed on the outlet pipeline
