How to deal with a clogged gas outlet pipe in a high-pressure washer

If the gas-phase pipe of the high-pressure scrubber is completely blocked, the plant must be shut down to address it. Otherwise, the high-pressure circuit will experience overpressure, which is quite dangerous. If it is not completely blocked, and provided that the high-pressure circuit does not experience overpressure, use steam to purge the outside of the pipe where blockage is suspected, until it is cleared.

If it’s really the gas-phase pipe of the high-pressure washer that’s blocked, it’s likely the system will have to be shut down before you even notice the blockage. Is there still time to deal with it slowly?

The gas-phase tube of the high-pressure washer does not get clogged during normal operation, as there is a continuous flow of gas – so how could it get clogged?

Which gas-phase pipe is blocked? Please clarify if it hasn’t been confirmed yet. A blockage in the gas-phase pipes around the high-pressure scrubber indicates deficiencies in management/operation. There should be no blockages under normal conditions; the inlet and outlet pipes connected to the heat exchanger tubes are linked to the gas-phase pipes of the synthesis tower. If there’s no blockage upstream, how can there be one downstream? A blockage might occur only if the insulation or heating system is inadequate, just for reference. Try to find out the cause.

When possible, the valve orifice may experience reduced flow rate due to the presence of liquid; in such cases, it can be cleaned by using a high-pressure flushing pump. However, care must be taken to prevent water from entering the scrubber – flushing should only be done in the direction of the gas outlet, and it is sufficient to do this in short bursts, with small amounts of water, multiple times.
