Advice for current students

Experienced seniors who are working in this field, please give some advice to students still in school who want to work in design after graduation. For example, on what aspects they should focus their efforts while in school
I feel that one needs to have a broad knowledge base, but also a focus area in which they are highly proficient, such as principles of chemical engineering or chemical processing technology. If one can get things sorted out, it won’t be a problem to go look for a job.

As for software, it’s even easier – mastering one programming language is sufficient. Not too much, just quality. Even the most basic VB will do; it’s very useful.
Well, it’s important to be proficient in one area; you need to have your own skills, solid skills – that’s what enables you to make a living.
Having knowledge in nine out of ten senses is the same as having no knowledge at all; having knowledge in just one out of ten senses makes one an expert.
