Is it related to the use of temporary seals? If original factory seals are used, will oil still seep in? Could negative pressure from imports also be a factor?:P
The main reason for oil entering the cylinder of a centrifugal compressor is the failure to activate the pre- and post-isolation gas dry gas seals before the oil system is established. Therefore, it is required that the isolation air before and after the oil system is started must be put into operation.
Mainly, the piston rings are worn out and need to be replaced; also, the crankshaft stroke is too short. It’s necessary to check the crankshaft bearings as well
The main reasons are that the rear isolation gas dry gas seal was not put into operation before or after the oil system was established, or it is caused by the failure to establish a liquid level in the oil film seal or by an excessively high liquid level in that seal.
Reply to 1# shiner2: The original test runs used test seals; dry gas seals were installed after the testing was completed. The most likely reason for oil ingress is that you did not activate the isolation gas seal before starting the oil pump.
There are two scenarios: 1. It is common sense to inject isolation gas first, and this is also part of the startup sequence. It’s unlikely that it was sent to the wrong place. 2. There are issues with the sealed installation. This is the most likely possibility.
Mainly, the backflow isolation gas was not activated before the oil system was put into operation.
It’s not a dry gas seal being used, right? It’s an A-4 seal; oil entering the system is inevitable
