Plate filters and leaf filters

During a field trip, I saw a filter at the vinylon factory; it was described as a plate filter, not a plate-and-frame filter, and it had the shape of a vertical cylinder. I think it was a leaf filter – is that a term used for such filters? Thank you for the guidance from those who know
Some domestic manufacturers refer to leaf filters as closed plate filters; I’m not sure if this is the situation the original poster is referring to.
