Are there any regulations regarding the thickness matching of the flange plate and the tube box flange in the case of flanges? Are there any empirical data available?
The old standard used a ratio of 0.8, but this concept is no longer applicable in the new standard; it’s sufficient to simply perform the calculation.
The SW6 calculation program indicates that the 0.6 times relationship is satisfied, with stiffness being the main factor considered
I also found that there is only a 0.6 times relationship, but it doesn’t seem appropriate. I used the same material for both the tube sheet and the flange; the tube sheet required a strength of 28 to meet the requirements, while the flange needed 46. It’s really hard to explain why there’s such a difference
