What is the purpose of introducing nitrogen gas in low-temperature methanol washing?
Is that true? Isn’t the air velocity too low? Introduce nitrogen to increase it.

This post was last edited by Kuuki Kyōko on 2010-9-16 21:03. Gases such as H2, N2, and CO2 are removed by stripping, which reduces the partial pressure of hydrogen sulfide; as a result, the methanol concentration decreases while hydrogen sulfide becomes more concentrated. Why can’t it be hidden?
Reply to 1# Ye Xing: Does the nitrogen gas you mentioned refer to the stripping nitrogen fed into the concentration tower? Nitrogen is introduced here via stripping mainly to reduce the partial pressures of CO2 and H2S in methanol within the concentration tower, allowing gases such as CO2 and H2S that are dissolved in methanol at low pressure to come out of solution. This releases a large amount of heat, providing a cooling source for low-temperature methanol washing.
Stripping removes CO2 from the methanol-rich stream to increase the H2S concentration in the acidic gas.
Pumped before driving, used as lift nitrogen during driving, and provides greater cooling capacity after decomposition. Reduce the CO2 content in subsequent towers to prevent overpressure.
The purpose of introducing nitrogen gas during low-temperature methanol washing is to dissolve as much carbon dioxide as possible from the methanol solution.
Find out where nitrogen is being introduced; if it’s a stripping tower, it’s used to strip carbon dioxide!
