Why do some air separation plants have both cryogenic liquid storage tanks and spherical tanks, while others have only cryogenic liquid storage tanks? What is the difference between spherical tanks and storage tanks?
I don’t quite understand what the original poster means. A storage tank is defined by its purpose, while a spherical tank is defined by its shape

Reply to 3# gxlx2007: I think it’s a matter of volume. Under high pressure, a large volume can only be accommodated by spherical tanks, as they can handle stress better and help save materials.
This is because some air separation plants do not have the qualifications to manufacture spherical tanks, and currently in China, spherical tanks are basically designed and produced by specialized companies in this field. Ball tank design institutes basically no longer carry out such designs
Storage tanks are primarily used for storing media at atmospheric pressure or slightly positive pressure, while spherical tanks are generally used for storing media under pressure (although they can also be used for storing low-pressure media).
