The service life of EDI depends on various factors: 1. Inlet water hardness (0.5 ppm calcium carbonate); 2. Inlet water silica content (0.1 ppm); 3. Residual chlorine in the inlet water (0.02); 4. Microorganisms in the inlet water; 5. Inlet water temperature (5–45°C); 6. Inlet water pH (6.5–7.5). If these parameters are carefully controlled, the EDI module can be used for at least 5 years, and with proper maintenance, it can even last up to 8 years
It is generally not less than 3 years. The key lies in the stability of the system before EDI.
