I can use CAD to draw diagrams, but when it comes to creating flowcharts, I always struggle to arrange them properly – either there isn’t enough space or the elements are too small. What should I do? After all, flowcharts don’t need to be drawn to scale, right?
Flowcharts do not have specific proportions, but it is still necessary to decide what size of diagram will be used. When marking devices on the same diagram, their proportions should not vary too much. First, draw a sketch and arrange the devices; the order can be adjusted slightly for easier drawing, as long as it does not hinder others from understanding the diagram. As long as all the devices fit within the diagram, there will be no problem in adding the pipelines.
Plan in advance the positions of each component, leaving some margin for flexibility. There shouldn’t be too many devices per diagram; the current process generally requires things to be separated and specified in detail.
It is recommended that LZ refer to the standards HG20559 and HG20519
(1) The arrangement of equipment on the diagram is generally from left to right in the order of the process flow. (2) If towers, reactors, storage tanks, heat exchangers, heating furnaces, etc. are placed on the ground, they are generally arranged above the horizontal center line of the drawing. (3) Compressors and pumps are located below the 1/4 line at the bottom of the drawing. (4) The lower 1/4 of the center line is reserved for ducts.
