I saw 7 in “Chemical Engineering Safety and Environment”. 16. The cause of the explosion in the Dalian oil pipeline was additives; the main component of these additives was hydrogen peroxide (50%). I didn’t realize that hydrogen peroxide could be so dangerous. If any of you know the properties of hydrogen peroxide, please share information about its dangerous characteristics
It readily decomposes to release oxygen when heated or in contact with organic substances. When heated to 100°C, it begins to decompose rapidly. It undergoes violent chemical reactions, and may even explode, in contact with chromic acid, potassium permanganate, metal powders, etc. In the presence of high temperatures, it can undergo intense decomposition, leading to container rupture or explosion.

Most heavy metals (such as iron, copper, silver, lead, mercury, zinc, cobalt, nickel, chromium, manganese, etc.) and their oxides and salts are active catalysts; dust, cigarette ash, toner, rust, etc. can also accelerate decomposition. Hydrogen peroxide with a concentration of over 74% can cause a gas-phase explosion in a sealed container with an appropriate ignition source or temperature.

Hydrogen peroxide does indeed pose an explosion risk. One of my seniors had an accident in an experiment: a drop of hydrogen peroxide from a pipette fell on the table, causing an explosion that resulted in the loss of his thumb. Moreover, hydrogen peroxide with a higher concentration can cause damage as soon as it comes into contact with the skin
According to the List of Hazardous Chemicals (2002 edition), hydrogen peroxide has two hazard codes: one is 51001 for concentrations greater than 20%. The other is 51501, with a content ranging from 8% to 20%. According to the numbering system, 51001 belongs to category 1 oxidizers, while 50501 belongs to category 2 oxidizers; therefore, hydrogen peroxide is classified as either type A or type B depending on its concentration (for details, refer to the relevant regulations, and we should follow the instructions given there regarding classification).
There was a reason for the explosion in Dalian: the flow of crude oil had stopped, but desulfurization additives (assumed to be H2O2) were still being injected, causing the level of reactive oxygen at the injection site to rise to levels sufficient to trigger an explosion……

What does the four-digit number indicated in the notes column at the bottom of the hazardous chemicals list mean? What criteria are used to determine these primary oxidizing agents and secondary oxidizing agents that you mentioned?
