My company plans to set up a facility for producing 220,000 tons of methanol per year from biomass, that is, household waste. However, I am not yet aware of the specific manufacturing process. Does anyone have any information on this? Thank you
I had heard before about Germany’s GSP technology for gasifying municipal waste, as well as about the purification of flue gases from furnaces. However, I always thought that whether it was gasifying or purifying municipal waste, the process was relatively complex.
The main issue is the technology used for gasification; GSP works for this purpose, but other methods haven’t been tried yet. However, **policy support is necessary**, such as tax exemptions and interest-free loans; otherwise, there will be no benefits. Producing 220,000 tons of methanol requires a large amount of waste, and proper waste sorting is needed, in addition to considering the potential issue of dioxins.

Let’s talk briefly: theoretically, 1 ton of methanol requires 0. 375 tons of carbon ; 220,000 tons of methanol costs 8. 250,000 tons of carbon. Note that the conversion rate of any technology cannot be 100%. You can take samples of the trash – aside from non-combustible items, there are discarded packaging, leftover food, vegetable peels, waste paper, and rags. . . How much carbon can there be? What about hydrogen? Nonsense; I guess even the waste from cities with a population of 200-300 million couldn’t produce 220,000 tons of methanol, right?
