Light naphtha is used to refine gasoline; light naphtha itself has a relatively low density. According to the original poster, I believe this is done in order to achieve a certain vapor pressure for the gasoline. Or rather, the initial boiling point of the gasoline is within acceptable limits. I’m not sure if this is the case; I hope experts can give me some advice.
The most important thing is having a larger volume at the same quality; gas stations sell volume, not quality. These days, many are blended with aromatic hydrocarbons that have a high density; therefore, naphtha with a lower density is used to adjust the density, which isn’t entirely in line with standards. However, since there is profit involved, more people engage in this practice.
Thank you to the people who spoke above. Although the density of naphtha varies by just a few hundredths of a unit among different manufacturers, that small difference can still result in profits of several hundred. Are there any other explanations?

I think it’s a matter of interests: at refineries, oil is purchased by ton, but at gas stations it’s sold by liter
