If there are pressure and temperature meters installed on these pipes, is it necessary to design an operating platform?
In my opinion, valves need to be installed; if there are pressure and temperature gauges on the main pipe, an operating platform should also be added to facilitate operation, maintenance, and repair.
Installing valves facilitates maintenance inside the boundary area, but their sealing performance must be reliable; otherwise they are useless, and they also create additional leakage points. If there are valves and instruments, an operation platform should be provided; otherwise, it will be difficult or unsafe to turn them on and off for maintenance, and this can easily lead to falls from heights.
It is generally necessary to add it for easier maintenance
It is not necessary to install them on the boundary line; they can be placed where it is convenient to operate once inside the boundary area, or valves can be installed before entering the equipment to facilitate maintenance and operation. As for the demarcation of the boundary areas and the purging during maintenance, flexibility is allowed – there is no need to follow strict rules. Otherwise, more valves mean more leakage points, as well as increased investment and operating costs. Due to operational pressures and issues with temperature sensors, if readings can be taken from the ground or frequent inspections are not necessary, there is no need to build a platform.
It should be installed at the root of the main pipe to facilitate inspection, maintenance, and protection against freezing. Instrument signals can be led to the ground, but valve operation requires an operating platform.
Each case should be analyzed on its own; there’s no need for dogma
It is generally better to include valves, as this facilitates separate control of the main pipeline and the branch pipelines. Whether to install the platform needs to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Personally, I think it’s better to install additional components; it facilitates minor repairs from time to time. Having consoles with instruments and such makes maintenance easier, and it also increases the safety level
