Is there a relationship between the feed position in a packed tower and the quality of the product?
The answer is yes. The feed position determines the distribution of the number of plates in the rectification section and the stripping section.
Would lowering the feed position of the tower reduce the quality of the liquid at the bottom of the tower and increase the yield at the top of the tower?
If the feed contains a high proportion of light components, the upper feed inlet can be used to increase the number of distillation stages; if the content of heavy components is high, the lower feed inlet can be used to increase the number of retention stages
If there are more light components in the feed, the feed inlet should be moved upward; if there are more heavy components in the feed, the feed inlet should be moved downward
The feed ports for extractive distillation are different; generally, the light components are fed from below, while the heavy components are fed from above
In some cases, the light components are fed from below while the heavier components are fed from above. If heating is required for the feed, it is usually fed into the heat exchanger from above first
