The purpose of adding a combined flash tank above the ammonia cooler is to first feed liquid ammonia into the flash tank; from there, it flows to the ammonia cooler through a liquid outlet pipe, while an ammonia gas pipe connects the two. I’m not sure what the structure of the ammonia cooler and the flash tank is like What are the advantages and disadvantages compared to ordinary ammonia coolers? What is the function of a flash tank?
The function of the flash tank is to separate gas from liquid. It is similar in structure to a waste boiler with natural circulation and air pockets. The ammonia cooler in the KBR process has this structure.
What are the differences compared to a demister?
The modular ammonia condenser mainly increases the evaporation space, which facilitates gas-liquid separation.
