Dear sea friends! The installation is in progress; piping work is being carried out. When installing the pump, it was found that the inlet flanges of the pump were installed with their flat surfaces facing downward, but the foreign experts demanded that they be installed with the flat surfaces facing upward! What is the logic behind doing this? It seems to conflict with the design specifications!
This is related to the medium; if the medium may contain solid impurities, then a flat bottom is needed in order to reduce the occurrence of solid deposits. If the medium may contain gases, then a flat top is required to prevent the formation of gas pockets and similar issues.
It depends on the pump’s feeding method: high feeding results in a flat bottom, while low feeding results in a flat top.
What if the feed is low and there are solids as well?
