Is a postdoc necessary?

I graduated with a doctorate, but couldn’t find a research institute, and I wasn’t able to get into any universities in the capital. After graduation, to avoid losing my job, I found a position in a private company that had nothing to do with my doctoral research. I would like to ask those who have experience: what are the prospects for pursuing a postdoctoral degree?

Be more optimistic – it’s not easy to make a living in Beijing; you can go to other places. You should have joined an research institute by now. Life is just a few decades long; it doesn’t matter once you understand that. You majored in mineral processing; if you go to a large coal mine, you’ll surely progress quickly there. Of course, by the time one has reached the doctoral level, it seems like a pity not to have a decent job.
I haven’t gotten a PhD; it seems like those with a PhD are very talented, so how is it possible they can’t find jobs?

Hurry up and move forward – you can’t keep staying behind: lol. I’m just an undergraduate, but in my opinion, there’s not much difference between a PhD holder and someone with a postdoctoral degree. It’s better to find a job quickly; if you can’t get one in Beijing, go somewhere else. If you really want to be in Beijing, lower your standards and work at a company of lower rank first, then switch jobs once you have better opportunities. Life is only a few decades long – don’t wait until after you finish your postdoctoral studies to look for a job
Reading comes at a cost; if the effort does not yield a proportional return, then it is better not to read. Personally, I think if the goal is to find a job, there’s no need to pursue a postdoctoral degree anymore ； If one wishes to pursue some knowledge, that’s another matter.
As they said upstairs, you can first find a job in another city; once you have a foundation, then you can think about choosing a career.
The purpose of going to school is to put knowledge into practice; I plan to choose job opportunities in companies related to my field of study outside of Beijing and Shanghai.
As long as the company is good, don’t worry too much about the location; after all, it’s not easy to find a job these days.
