For coking units, how should the selection and addition of defoamers and anticoking agents be handled, and where should the anticoking agents be added?
A low-silica antifoam agent is used, which is capable of eliminating about 50% of the foam layer; Antifouling agents are generally injected at the outlet of the feed pump ;
There is no consensus among researchers as to where exactly the defoamer should be injected; some say it should be added at the top while others suggest it should be added at the bottom! I personally think it’s better to add antifouling agents at the source!
Our unit has two locations for injecting antifouling agents: at the feed branch of the heating furnace; At the oil and gas outlet at the top of the coke tower, I think it is more scientific to inject the defoamer from the top of the tower, as this can achieve good results
It is difficult to assess the antisticking effect of antisticking agents, and Sinopec no longer recommends their use; As for the defoamer, it is of course best to place it at the top of the tower; generally, it is installed on the overflow line, at a depth corresponding to the short upper tangent of the cylinder, with an orientation of 45° pointing toward the center of the coke tower.
Are there any information available on the components, principles, and manufacturers of defocus agents?
It is best to choose a silicone-free defoamer, as silicon has toxic side effects on catalysts used in hydrogenation processes
Antifoaming agents are generally injected at the bottom of the distillation tower, such as in the bottom recirculation line; It is effective to inject defoamers from the top of the coke tower.
