Classic Design: Xace designs the smallest exchanger that utilizes the minimum number of parallel tubes, while still meeting the given geometric, process, and physical property constraints. Process constraints must include the heat load (either explicitly specified or inferred), and may also include restrictions on pressure drop and/or flow velocity. The minimum geometric parameters required for designing such an exchanger are tube length, pitch, layout type, tube diameter, and tube wall thickness. 4. Grid Design: This approach provides more control over the design process, as you can specify a range of critical parameters that Xace should consider during the design process. For example, you can define a minimum and maximum number of rows to be evaluated. Once the design is complete, Xace selects the smallest exchanger that satisfies all the process constraint requirements.
