Extraction layering is a procedure used by many chemical manufacturing companies. What our company often does is to separate the organic phase (toluene) from the aqueous phase, as well as to separate the organic phase (dichloromethane) from water. Pure manual work is of course possible, but our company makes use of interfaces, which helps to avoid human errors and mistakes. Layering is simple; in fact, just opening a few valves is enough, provided that there are clear separation points. But in reality, the stratification between the two is not as clear as expected, and there are many emulsion layers. Emulsification mechanism: When a surfactant is added, due to its amphiphilic properties, it tends to adsorb and accumulate at the oil-water interface, reducing the interfacial tension and altering the state of the interface. This allows the \"oil\" and \"water\" liquids, which otherwise cannot mix together, to be combined; one of the liquid phases breaks down into many particles that are dispersed in the other phase, resulting in an emulsion. Since the presence of emulsification reduces the visibility of layering, how can emulsification be minimized? 1. The equipment used for the reaction must be clean. 2. Stirring needs to be controlled; it should not be too intense. After that, leave it to stand for a while. Add water or saturated saltwater (depending on the type of rice used in the two phases; if the density of water is relatively high, use some saturated saltwater) ; When the density of water is relatively low, add more water.) 4.
