An expansion tank, also known as a pressure stabilizing tank, serves primarily to maintain a constant pressure of the water on the secondary side. At the beginning of system operation, as the temperature of the water on the secondary side rises and its volume increases, this device is used to absorb or discharge the additional volume of water in the system. When the system loses water, it is again through this device that water is added back. Its function is similar to that of the high-level water tanks that were commonly used in the past.
This product is used only in the absence of certain automated control systems, but it still belongs to the category of pressure vessels and therefore should be subject to regulation. Just as water towers served in urban water supply systems in the past, they help maintain pressure while also regulating the volume of water, thus ensuring stable system pressure at all times. But personally, I don’t recommend using this thing; after all, it’s just a process of centralized heating, so it’s better to use pressure vessels as little as possible to avoid extra complications. It is better to use an inverter for control; even more simply, using a contact-type pressure gauge to control the activation of the make-up water pump is sufficient to achieve stable water supply.
