The new unit has been put into operation, using dual high-dose control valves to regulate the temperature of the converter. Strangely enough, there is no sulfur at the sulfur discharge outlet of the catcher, yet small sparks are emitted (very rarely, and not every time it discharges). It seems to be ferrous sulfide; I have never encountered such a problem before. Has anyone else run into this issue? Could you help analyze this? If it’s ferrous sulfide, how is it formed? And if it’s not ferrous sulfide, then what is it on Mars?
Where are your collectors located? It is normal for ferrous sulfide to be present in sulfur recovery, but ferrous sulfide can only burn when it comes into contact with oxygen. Mars, as you mentioned, might be a case like this.
Is your sulfur recovery capacity 5,000? Do you mean the exhaust gas liquid separation tank when you talk about the catcher? Is it still the cold sewage outlet one, two, three?

Is that so? Is ours also 5000? The catcher doesn’t have liquid sulfur – what is the temperature of your reactor bed? Does your flue gas furnace use ammonia, and what is its temperature? Is it easy to use? Can we talk?
I think it was formed by the spontaneous combustion of ferrous sulfide; perhaps the iron in the system was sulfided and then fell off, or the sulfided iron powder was blown out. Since its temperature was very high right after it came out, it oxidized rapidly and caught fire, resulting in sparks. At room temperature (ferrous sulfide can catch fire on its own at 30-40 degrees), it may ignite slowly, with smoke being visible. I wonder what everyone thinks!
Reply 1# qustgch: What is the outlet temperature of your collectors? Is the amount of smoke large? Has this been the case since work started? Is the situation becoming fewer and fewer? Is the operation of the reactor, various coolers, etc. normal?
The new installation should not encounter problems with ferrous sulfide; it’s necessary to examine the air distribution and the process flow to identify the issue
It’s a bit scary; I’ve never encountered this before. Did the original poster really see that it was indeed Mars? It’s still liquid sulfur particles; the color is somewhat similar. There should be no open flame at that location of the collector; if it is indeed sparks, I personally think that FeS is more likely the cause.
