Which has a higher methane content, the lean LNG or the rich LNG? How are lean liquid and rich liquid defined?
I’ve really never heard LNG referred to that way. Is the rich and lean liquid formed during the decarburization process, as a result of carbon dioxide being absorbed?
In the LNG production process, amine solution is used to remove carbon dioxide from natural gas; the amine solution that has absorbed carbon dioxide is generally referred to as rich solution, while the amine solution after carbon dioxide has been removed is called lean solution.
The hydrocarbon components in natural gas can be divided into dry gas and wet gas, as well as lean gas and rich gas. They use different criteria for classification; dry gas and wet gas are distinguished by the content of pentane. If the content of hydrocarbons above pentane is less than 10 mL/m3, it is considered dry gas, whereas if it is greater than 10 mL/m3, it is considered wet gas. Lean gas is classified based on the propane content; gas with a hydrocarbon content of less than 100 mL/m3 containing propane is considered lean gas, whereas that with a content greater than 100 mL/m3 is considered rich gas.
