I would like to ask fellow sailors: Taking a twin-screw screw compressor as an example, does the screw compressor compress the gas during operation? Is it similar to rotary screw compressors, in that it does not have its own compression and pressure-raising function, and the outlet pressure is determined by the system backpressure? If a twin-screw screw compressor compresses gas by transporting it under the action of the engagement between the two rotors, with the teeth peaks and troughs coming into contact, thereby increasing pressure, then does a single-screw compressor also compress the gas?
Double-screw compressors feature internal compression, but the exhaust pressure resulting from this compression is usually lower than the required pressure; therefore, the final exhaust pressure also changes depending on the back pressure. This is generally regulated by a minimum pressure valve. Single-screw compressors seem to have similar characteristics to double-screw compressors in terms of internal compression, though there are some differences in their structure
