I’m not sure if there are significant differences between different regions; in Beijing, the evaluation method combines examinations and assessments. The examination topics include polymer chemistry, polymer physics, as well as the properties and processing of plastics and rubbers, while areas such as fibers and coatings are covered only to a limited extent. Body type is entirely a multiple-choice question, with single and multiple selections. There is basically no calculation. It covers basic principles, processing aids, principles of processing techniques and solutions to processing problems. There are also many questions on the properties of typical materials (you need to remember the abbreviations). I have already passed the exam in Beijing. It’s definitely different from what you take in your exams; it’s just for reference.

Generally: After working for one year at the undergraduate level, one can be appointed as an assistant engineer. All that is required is to fill out a form; once the company approves it and stamps it, the approval is usually granted. After working as an assistant for five years after obtaining a bachelor’s degree, one can apply for an intermediate qualification; this process is rather complicated as it requires a certificate of continuing education, professional English proficiency (the fourth level may exempt one from this requirement), and a computer skills certificate. All of these exams come at a cost, and a variety of documents must be submitted (once a submission packet is purchased, the required materials can be prepared accordingly). There are two ways to obtain this qualification: through evaluation or through exams, with evaluation being considered easier. Those with a postgraduate degree can be promoted to the intermediate level after working for one year; fewer documents are required for this promotion compared to advancing from the junior level, and it seems to be easier as well. The higher levels require more experience, so they should be more difficult as well.
