Why does the methanol-to-hydrogen plant produce a red color in the mixture of methanol and water before it reaches the vaporization tower, and why are there precipitates as well? Could anyone with expertise give some guidance?
The most likely reason is the presence of iron compounds in the water; when mixed with methanol, changes in solubility and pH lead to the precipitation of these iron compounds.
