Dear technicians, I’ve heard that for high liquid level alarms in liquid chemical storage tanks, two independent systems are required – namely a level gauge (currently radar level gauges are used for high level alarms) and a fork-type alarm. **Is this indeed a mandatory requirement per the standards?** Is it sufficient to use only the high-level alarm of a radar level gauge? So there’s no need for a tuning fork-based high liquid level alarm?
I don’t think so. Here, our liquefied gas tanks use only one servo level gauge in accordance with the new standards for high-level monitoring, while for light hydrocarbons, fork-type level gauges are used (previously, both types used radar level gauges, but the errors were quite large, so they were replaced)
