World’s largest coal gasification unit successfully commissioned at Datang Dolun Coal Gasification Plant

At 1:29 a.m. on October 18, the No. 3 gasification unit at the gasification plant of Datang Duolun Coal Chemical Company – the world’s largest coal gasification facility – was successfully commissioned for the first time. 　　The coal gasification unit is the core component of the Datang Dolun Coal Chemical Project and serves as the backbone of the entire chemical plant. It utilizes Shell’s advanced fluidized-bed clean coal gasification technology, which is currently available in the world, and it is also the first Shell gasifier in the world to be equipped with 6 coal burners. A single gasification furnace can process 2,870 tons of dried raw coal per day, which is the highest figure in the world; moreover, the construction of three such gasification furnaces within one project is a first in the world as well. 　　At 17:20 on October 17, Unit 3 of the company’s gasification plant was prepared for ignition ； At 21:10, the pilot burner was successfully ignited ； At 21:20, the pilot burner successfully ignited the main burner, and Gasifier No. 3 began to increase in temperature and pressure ； At 21:50, the coal circulation procedure was initiated to prepare for coal feeding ； At 1:29 a.m. on October 18, the coal burner was successfully ignited and operated stably, producing qualified syngas and slag. The syngas was discharged into a large flame, whose blazing light illuminated the grassland, prompting the many employees on site to erupt in heartfelt cheers. 　　The Datang Duolun Coal Chemical Project undertakes the important task of **energy strategic transformation, as well as carrying forward Datang Group’s ambitious vision of contributing to the nation through industry.
