A pressure indicator refers to the numerical value that shows the pressure. A pressure indication alarm is a signal that indicates when the pressure exceeds a specified value; an on-site pressure gauge is a gauge that displays the pressure directly at the location of the equipment. I’m still not sure about the pressure indication and pressure gauges; on the drawings it’s usually shown as PI, PIAS, PG – it’s a bit hard to tell them apart
So, does the pressure transmitter include the above?

Reply 5# juncaide: A pressure transmitter is the transducing element in a pressure gauge; in PID systems it seems to be denoted as PT, while the sensing element is indicated as PE. Such devices are generally found in instruments that are connected to DCS systems (I need someone with expertise in instrumentation to confirm this – I’m not entirely sure). PI refers to elements that provide indications within the DCS system, PG denotes elements for local display, and PIAS refers to elements that provide indications in the DCS system along with alarm functions. I just consulted our instrumentation experts, and they said that PE and PT are now integrated together; it’s generally referred to as PT. In other words, any pressure instrument connected to the DCS will have a PT designation
