The measurement range of an instrument refers to the upper and lower limits that the instrument can measure; the calibration range is determined by the requirements of the process, and this range must lie within the instrument’s measurement range. The calibration points are usually selected as percentages within the calibration range, such as 0, 25, 50, 75, 100. The range of an instrument is the difference between its upper and lower measurement limits. The measurement range of an instrument also has limits; in other words, an instrument has a maximum range and a minimum range.
