In practice, this structure is commonly used in engineering to handle areas where a change in diameter is required.
Used when there isn’t enough space and the large and small parts simply can’t be fitted in. For such strange and unusual gadgets, I would definitely refuse to use them if there were other ways to solve the problem
This is quite rare; is it non-standard?
Similar items such as reducers and elbows come with standards, all of which are designed to save space; generally, their use is avoided as it involves complicated procurement processes

It should be avoided as much as possible, mainly due to space installation considerations.
When connecting to the equipment nozzle, using a reducing flange looks better; it’s not really a waste. There are no principles involved; everyone should do as they please.
