What are the key points for raising the pressure of a boiler?
1. During the operation of the light and heavy oil nozzles in the boiler, the on-site supervisor should observe the ignition and atomization performance of these nozzles. If poor combustion is detected, the control room must be notified immediately so that the operation of that nozzle can be stopped right away, thereby preventing contamination of the rear heating surfaces due to poor atomization, or damage to the slag crusher caused by heavy oil falling into the cold ash hopper. At the same time, the light and heavy oil systems in front of the furnace should also be subject to stricter inspection to prevent fires caused by leaks of light and heavy oil. 2. During the process of increasing temperature and pressure, it is necessary to regularly monitor to ensure that the stress margins in the steam-water separator and at the outlet header of the convective superheater do not exceed the specified limits. If a decrease in these stress margins is detected, the addition of fuel should be stopped and the time taken for temperature and pressure increase should be extended. 3. During the process of increasing temperature and pressure, it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of the temperatures of various heated surfaces and metal components. The temperature at the intermediate point (the steam temperature at the separator outlet) should be controlled carefully, as well as the amount of cooling water used and the angle of adjustment of the burners, in order to keep the main steam temperature and the reheat steam temperature within the set ranges. 4. During the boiler startup process, it is particularly important to strengthen monitoring of the air preheater. Any alarms that occur should prompt an immediate on-site inspection. Additionally, soot blowing of the air preheater should be carried out twice per shift to prevent fires in the air preheater. 5. After the boiler switches to pure DC operation, the water level in the recovery tank of the startup system gradually decreases. At this point, the BD004 valve should be closed to prevent air leakage from the startup system from reducing the vacuum in the condenser and thereby affecting the normal operation of the unit. 6. When the steam temperature at the inlet of the boiler separator reaches the saturation temperature (100°C) for the first time and the second layer of heavy oil injectors come online, the boiler undergoes a steam-water expansion process. At this time, it is necessary to pay attention to the water level control in the steam-water separator and the deaerator to prevent it from exceeding the allowable limits. 7. When the boiler is operating in the transition zone between wet and dry conditions, its operation time should be kept as short as possible. It is also necessary to maintain stability in fuel control and the water level in the separator, and to control steam pressure strictly in accordance with the pressure increase curve, in order to prevent fluctuations in the temperature of the boiler’s heating surface metals.
