How to perform lofting in CAD

My friend is a sheet metal worker and asked me how, in CAD, once you know the 3D shape of an object, you can use it to create drawings for cutting and fabrication. I would appreciate any advice from those who know how to do this. . . . Thank you! ! ! !
As far as I know, CAD does not have a lofting function; lofting is done using 3D software! Then converted to CAD format
