It was found that there are many TRVs in LNG projects; what is the necessity of this? I have worked on ethylene projects involving cold areas before, and I didn’t find many TRVs there; both types of applications involve a lot of cold-related elements. So why are there such differences in the design of TRVs?
The TRVs in LNG are mainly used for temperature relief on pipes filled with LNG liquid. After LNG is vaporized, its volume expands by 600 times; coupled with the low compressibility of liquid LNG, this can easily cause overpressure in the pipelines. Therefore, it is understandable to have a large number of TRVs installed on LNG pipelines.
I’m not very informed – what is TRV?
