Dear experts, I have a conceptual question: some companies produce refined benzene, and it is said that this is done by first acid-washing benzene and then refining it. What method is generally used? Is it sulfur-free benzene? Thank you
It is sulfur-free benzene; generally, NaOH is added first to convert phenol into sodium phenolate, followed by oil-water separation. Then, acidic gases such as carbon dioxide are added; compatibility is maintained, phenol is separated, and then purification is carried out.
