The anti-surge valve of the air compressor is primarily used to prevent surge in the compressor caused by low flow rates during startup and shutdown; under normal conditions, this valve remains closed. However, recently the anti-surge valve of the air compressor has opened abnormally, with an opening degree of around 10%. The inlet pressure and temperature of the air compressor, as well as the position of the inlet guide valve and the outlet pressure and flow rate of the compressor, are all within normal ranges. First, check the output of the valve; if it is 10%, then it has nothing to do with the valve itself. Since you mentioned that there are no differences in the process parameters, it is recommended to determine whether each parameter differs significantly from its normal value by examining the trends or operation records. If there are no such differences, it can be assumed that the issue lies with the instruments. It’s possible that what is shown on the DCS or similar systems appears normal, but the instruments connected to the anti-surge system indicate deviations, which can lead to this situation. It is advised to contact the instrument technicians and request a thorough inspection.
