Our company has an air compressor; there are no signs of oil leakage from the outside, but the consumption of lubricant is quite high – about 25 KG of oil needs to be added per shift (8 hours). This level of consumption is much higher than normal. I would like to ask what the normal fuel consumption of an air compressor is Could this phenomenon be due to a problem with the oil-gas separator? If so, are there any good manufacturers of oil-gas separators in China?
It is recommended to first find out the cause: 1. A high oil level can lead to increased fuel consumption； 2. Is the intake air rotating, and are there any issues with the flow rate? ； 3. Issues with the oil filter element’s capture efficiency ； 4. Is the oil temperature normal? ； Oil that is properly designed should generally not cause any problems, right? !
Check the coarse and fine filtration systems; mainly verify the oil content in the drain liquid from the non-purified air storage tank. Also, check whether the separator in the dryer contains oil.
In our factory’s screw compressors, as you mentioned, it is often the oil separator that needs to be replaced. I’m not sure if this will be helpful to you
