A safety officer is essentially a supervisor; whether supervision is carried out depends on the organization’s culture regarding work safety. I think in an organization that places great emphasis on work safety, it isn’t difficult for a safety officer to perform their duties
Normally, no one knows what you do, even though you do a lot of work; moreover, it’s always tedious tasks. When something goes wrong, then your responsibility comes into play – everything is blamed on you, it’s said that you didn’t do your job properly, that you failed to take adequate precautions, or that your training wasn’t sufficient……
One’s work isn’t understood, it’s easy to offend people, and when things go wrong, one is prone to being criticized
To ensure safety, one has to deal with managers above and employees below, caught in between； The rights are great, and so are the responsibilities; the task ahead is arduous.
We don’t have much power, but we do bear great responsibilities. It’s not easy to achieve results in safety work. One has to live in constant fear every day.
