In the event of a power outage while heating the methanol synthesis catalyst, the heating steam should be cut off immediately, hydrogen supply should be stopped, and the synthesis temperature should be reduced through methods such as filling the system with nitrogen; If the pump on the drum trips, close the drum feedwater valve (or use automatic control), close the drum drain valve, reduce the steam vent flow, and contact someone to start the backup pump. If the situation persists for an extended period, pressure must be released and the system filled with N2 as a replacement gas!
There’s no need to consider so many scenarios; as long as the system cannot enter a cycle, hydrogen supply must be stopped and questioning must cease, along with carrying out replacement;

When raising the temperature, if you use high-pressure steam, there is no issue with water, as the liquid level in the gas tank will only increase. If you use the gas from the previous stage to reduce the catalyst, once there is no gas left in that previous stage, you just need to continue the circulation and maintain the temperature. A power outage is the worst scenario; in such cases, you need to quickly close the hydrogen supply valve, increase the nitrogen purge flow, and open the vent as wide as possible.
