1. When the volume of the feed gas is low or its concentration is below the process requirements, it becomes difficult to maintain the process temperatures at the desired levels; this reduces the sulfur conversion rate and results in large amounts of sulfur-containing gases being released into the atmosphere and polluting the environment. As a result, the plant must increase the air supply in order to keep the temperatures at the required levels. 2. When the feed gas contains hydrocarbons or oil, it increases the combustion load of the furnace, leading to a sharp rise in air supply from the fans. If the air supply is insufficient, the quality of the product deteriorates, the catalyst cokes, system pressure rises, secondary combustion occurs in the incinerator, and the temperature of the reaction furnace drops significantly, making production difficult to control. 3. When the raw material gas contains a high amount of water, it will lower the temperature of the reaction furnace; it may also cause an explosion in the reaction furnace, severely affecting the progress of the reaction. 4. The presence of ammonia will deactivate the catalyst, resulting in no temperature rise during the reaction; it can also clog the pipes and equipment in the system, leading to an increase in pressure. 5. When the volume of raw gas is extremely large, and since the space velocity remains constant, the reaction pressure drop increases, leading to production difficulties; moreover, overheating may occur in the combustion furnaces and incinerators.
