What determines a substance’s autoignition point? Why do I find that the auto-ignition temperature of acetic acid is lower than that of propylene? Logically, I would assume that the auto-ignition point of propylene is relatively low, since it is flammable; acetic acid, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be flammable, right?

The autoignition point refers to the lowest temperature at which a combustible material can ignite spontaneously under specified conditions; this temperature is known as the material’s autoignition point. I also checked that acetic acid is flammable and classified as Category A; the ignition temperature of propylene is 460 degrees, while that of acetic acid is 465 degrees. Therefore, acetic acid has a lower ignition temperature than propylene. The ignition temperature of methane is 540 degrees.
