The coking plant lost power. I know how the switch operators should turn off the valves, how the flame regulators need to control the main pipeline pressure, and what the rising pipe operators should do… but I’m not aware of the sequence of actions. Does anyone have detailed steps for dealing with a power outage in a coking plant that they could share? (It is best to list them in order.)

In the event of a power outage during the operation of the heavy haul vehicle, special procedures must be followed. If a power outage occurs while the vehicle is pushing coke or leveling coal, the driver should immediately report this to the team leader, who in turn should promptly inform the supervisor and alert the gas handling team as well as other relevant personnel. At the same time, organize the maintenance personnel in this team to quickly identify and address the issues, and prepare the conditions for the manual operation device. If it is not possible to determine the cause of the power outage in a short time, the manual operating device should be used immediately to move the coke pusher and coal leveling rod out of the carbonization chamber. (The crew of this locomotive is responsible for the coke pushing rod, while the crew of the other locomotive is responsible for the coal leveling rod.) 1. Steps to retract the coke pushing rod: Person in charge: (the shift leader). (1) First, the driver operating at that time shall set the main control lever back to zero, turn off the power switch for the power circuit, and adjust the coke pushing rod to its manual operation position. Operating steps for manually returning the coal level: Person in charge: (Deputy shift leader on duty) (1) First, the driver performing the operation shall set the main control lever to the zero position, turn off the power switch for the power circuit, and adjust the manual coal level control to the manual mode. (2) Close the oil pump shut-off valve. (3) Open the ball valve of the hand pump. (4) Open the stop valve of the hand pump. 5. At the same time, the driver ensures that all mechanisms return to their original positions. (Check: The co-pilot of this vehicle shouts:) (4) Procedure for closing the furnace door: (a) The driver of this vehicle operates the solenoid valve for retraction to slowly pull back the coal-leveling slot; the co-pilot confirms that the coal-leveling slot has been pulled back to the appropriate position. (Calling out:) (b) Then, sequentially press the solenoids for closing the small furnace door, applying compression, moving the coal leveling cart backward, and retracting the compression mechanism in order to close the small furnace door, while ensuring that all mechanisms return to their original positions. Restore the coke pushing, coal leveling, and hand pump mechanisms to their initial positions in the following order, then wait for power to be supplied. The driver switches the coke pushing and coal leveling manual positioning to automatic mode. Check whether the brake has returned to normal and cover the brake cover. Close the ball valve of the hand pump and the stop valve of the hand pump. Open the ball valve of the oil pump and the automatic shut-off valve of the oil pump.
Special operations for the rising pipe during power outages: 1. If the blower stops operating, with the approval of the shift supervisor, the rising pipe operator shall switch the gas collection flap from automatic to manual mode. 2. Open the vent pipe. 3. Closely monitor the collector pressure. 4. If the pressure in the gas collection pipe is too high, the rising pipe cover of the newly loaded coal batch should be opened, but care must be taken to prevent ignition that could damage the equipment. 5. If the water level in the rising pipe’s water seal is too low, the rising pipe technician should pump water from the basement and the coke quenching tank to maintain the water level in the seal, thereby preventing a fire in the rising pipe as much as possible. 6. Upon receiving the call, the riser operator sets the gas collection flap to automatic mode and closes the vent pipe and the riser cover. 7. Once the pressure in the gas collection pipe is normal, carry out smoke suppression. 8. Notify the masons to handle the socket connections, and check the operation status of all equipment in the gas collection system. 9. In the event of a power outage that results in the shutdown of low-pressure ammonia, and if it is determined that the outage will last for an extended period, the technician responsible for the rising pipe can introduce fresh water by first closing the ammonia valve and then slowly opening the fresh water valve. The steps are as follows: A. First, close the low-pressure ammonia valve, and then slowly open the fresh water valve, so that the fresh water can replace the ammonia in cooling the gas collection pipes. B. To prevent damage to the collector pipe caused by rapid contraction of the air ducts if the valve is opened too quickly, due to the low temperature of the fresh water. C. The riser operator should check the spraying effect in a timely manner. D. Pay close attention to the temperature of the gas collection pipe; if it is too low, an appropriate amount of steam can be introduced. E. The temperature of the exhaust gas collection pipe should not exceed 200°C; when this temperature exceeds 200°C, in order to ensure that the temperature of the negative-pressure pipe does not rise too high, the shift leader may, after consulting the relevant personnel, release some of the waste gas. 10. When delivering low-pressure ammonia water, the riser operator should first close the fresh water valve, and then open the low-pressure ammonia water valve. Also check the ammonia spray situation and inform the mason to seal the socket joints. 11. When stopping the high-pressure ammonia solution, upon approval from the shift leader, immediately inform the furnace lid operator to open the cover of the rising pipe at the furnace outlet.

(2) When the ammonia water pump stops, the ammonia water gate valve should be closed and the clean water pipe should be opened. 3. Handling of the four types of cars: (1) In the event of a power outage during coal loading, the coal-loading car should be pushed away and the furnace lid should be closed as soon as possible ; At the same time, a manual device is used to shake the flat coal rods out of the carbonization chamber. (2) During pusher shutdown, use a manual device to pull the pusher rod out of the furnace ; Use a manual device to swing out the focus guide bar, push the coke car to the side, manually remove the coke, and then extinguish it with water. (3) The red coke inside the coking quench vehicle should be quenched on-site using water.
