There are many manufacturers claiming to produce chelated compound fertilizers. What exactly is their function, and what is the principle behind them? I hope someone can provide some guidance
In my opinion, so-called chelated fertilizers are those to which certain chelating agents are added to the fertilizer; for example, humic substances are added, or there are humic acid fertilizers available on the market. The presence of these chelating agents allows them to absorb certain ions, thereby reducing nutrient loss and enabling some control over the release of nutrients. Taking humic acid as an example, it can adsorb certain nutrient ions to minimize the loss of nutrients. In addition, it promotes the growth of certain soil microorganisms; after decomposition, it can improve the soil quality, thereby facilitating the growth of plant roots and enhancing the plants’ stress resistance
