What color will the ice machine oil become if chlorine and Freon mix together? Why? Urgent!
This post was last edited by sdhklh on 2010-11-4 at 15:43. It seems to be black, as chlorine causes it to carbonize. We stopped the entire system once for cleaning, and it took several days.
Thank you! Is it definitely black? You can’t be careless with scientific matters.
Reply to 3# Chemical Brother: Since our company has the necessary facilities, I conducted a chlorine treatment test on N46 refrigerant oil at 40°C; the color of the oil turned yellow, but it definitely did not turn black.
It’s not the oil that turns black; it’s the emulsification of the oil, along with acid substances that corrode the equipment and cause it to turn black……
